This isnāt even an isolated incident, this is a well documented problem amongst, not just male gynecologist but, male doctors in general. And tbh if youāre a female and have a male doctor, especially as a black woman, you need to do some serious research and see how dangerous thatās proven to be.

I found a lump in my breast last year and the male doctor i had not only tried to make me feel stupid for being concerned about it, he dismissed this painfull mass as common.
I felt humiliated and didnt want to go someone else out of fear of being made a fool of again. Then earlier this year i had no choice. I found another doctor,a female,who not only not only re diagnosed my cyst,but was flabbergasted at my previous treatment,she said they werent common,the pain i had wasnt common and he shouldnt have spoken over me and pushed me out in favor of his whiter,pregnant cliantel.
What made it worse was she looked at my mri from when he took them and told me the lump could have been removed with a needle. Quickly and painlessly. But because he didnt give a shit it hardened ,and i had to have actual surgery instead of an 10 minute aspiration.
I now have an ugly scar. Oh and the bandages left a scar on my breast as well. Because i have darker skin,i developed a raised scar. It looks like ive been shot.
A black male doctor did that to me. He treated 3 generations of women in my family and i recently found he neglected all of us. He refused to sign paperwork so my aunt could get her incontinence taken care of after he delivered her twins,giving her the same excuse he gave me āthats normal thats just the way it isā. He made my other uncomfortable during a breast exam. He repeatedly told my grandmother she didnt have fibroids(she did). And it continued because we, as a patriarchal community refuse to second guess or question male incompetence. Women die. I could have died. My grandmother could have died.
A female doctor was the connecting link between us all FINALLY getting the care we needed.
This is horrible and Iām sorry it happened. This being a black male doctor goes to show that black men are just as harmful to black women as white male doctors are.
My last doctor was a black male and on top of shrugging his shoulders and asking me what he was supposed to do about half my face being numb, he refused to sign my medical paperwork knowing it would cost me my job, House, and livelihood.
My recent stent in the Hospital left me almost dead and physically and emotionally exhausted after the dehumanizing treatment I faced at the hands of a white male doctor.
My new doctor is a young woman and I have never been so relieved in my life. Iāve only seen her once but she has been the only doctor in my entire life to sit down and take extensive notes on every single complaint I had about my body without ever rushing me or making me feel stupid. Sheās the first doctor Iāve ever had whoās running tests on things Iāve been complaining to doctors about for years. I hope she stays cool.
And I hope you all have better experiences with doctors. As black women itās even harder for us to find good medical treatment. Stay vigilant about your health and stay safe!
